It is with great pride that we recognize the Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon with this award for their steadfast dedication to preserving and enhancing historical buildings. Their efforts have been instrumental in maintaining the unique character of Downtown Medford while ensuring a vibrant future for our community.

The museum has shown incredible resilience and vision in its journey. In July 2022, they transitioned from the old J.C. Penney building to their new home in the historic Carnegie Library. This move not only preserved one of our city’s architectural treasures but also created a space where children and families can explore, learn, and thrive. They have interactive exhibits like the farm-to-table play area, a ranger station, and a wildlife rescue treehouse.

Their expansion didn’t stop there. Across the street, in the historic Medford Hotel, the museum’s annex has become a hub for creativity, hosting the clay and culinary studios. These additions reflect their commitment to turning our city’s history into a foundation for its future, breathing new life into our downtown through education, creativity, and engagement. They are continuously adding on additional features both inside and outside to make their space a great destination within downtown.

The Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon is not just preserving our past; they are shaping our future. Their work exemplifies the kind of innovation and dedication that strengthens the fabric of our community.

Please join me in celebrating Sunny Spicer and the Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon for their extraordinary contributions to our downtown and beyond.
