Committees

The DMA Board and community volunteers lead and carry out our program. They are active in one or more of our four committees that follow The Main Street Four-Point Approach® for transformation: Design, Economic Vitality, Organization, and Promotion.

The Main Street Four-Point Approach®

Medford became a part of the Main Street community in 2019. The Main Street program offers an approach to downtown revitalization that has been successful in more than two thousand towns and cities nationwide.

Many downtown revitalization efforts, from urban renewal to specific focus projects, have failed because they are often only focused on fixing one or two problems rather than more comprehensive interrelated issues affecting traditional commercial downtowns. The Main Street Four-Point Approach® is a community-driven, comprehensive strategy that encourages economic development through historic preservation in ways that are appropriate for our current times. This strategy is not possible without true community involvement and direction.
