They opened on June 6, with a grand opening on June 14, complete with giveaways, free food samples, and music. El Torito at 500 East 4th Street is a Mexican grocery that sells everything from meat to produce to packaged items to Mexican spices and baked goods to beer and soft drinks. They plan to open a hot deli counter soon.
El Torito also offers wire service and money orders so customers can send money to Mexico and other places.
El Torito is the latest of nine Oregon stores owned by Alfredo Mendez and Liliana Perez in such places as McMinnville, Salem, Lincoln City, Klamath Falls, and Madras.
Hilda Pelayo is the manager of the Medford store. She says the corner of 4th and Riverside is “a good location, everyone is welcoming, and we’re real excited to be here.”
