Nestled in the lively streets of Downtown Medford, 4 Daughters Irish Pub offers an authentic slice of Irish charm that brings together locals and visitors alike. From the moment you step through the door, you are enveloped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a getaway in a place so familiar as downtown.
On a crisp Wednesday evening, we headed out for a nice meal, choosing 4 Daughters Irish Pub as our culinary destination. The pub’s interior is a perfect blend of traditional Irish decor and modern comfort. Wooden beams, vintage photographs, and Irish memorabilia adorn the walls, creating a nostalgic yet vibrant ambiance. The dim lighting and cozy nooks invite patrons to linger, whether for a quiet pint or a lively gathering with friends.
As lovers of international flavors, it can be hard to find restaurants with an array of gluten-free options for me (Hannah). However, this was not an issue at 4 Daughters. Charlie grabbed a hearty slice of their Guiness meatloaf, which came with a scoop of creamy mashed potatoes and a side of peas, while I enjoyed a Bacon Avocado Burger on a gluten-free bun. On the side, we enjoyed a basket of Sweet Potato Fries, which are battered in corn starch, fried to perfection, and served with dipping sauces like huckleberry ketchup and a classic ranch.
The culinary delights range from classic Irish fare to contemporary dishes that cater to a variety of tastes. Signature items include shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, and the ever-popular fish and chips. For those looking for a lighter option, the pub offers fresh salads and savory soups. Additionally, they serve a range of delicious burgers and sandwiches, ensuring there is something for everyone. The drink menu is equally enticing, featuring a wide selection of beers on tap, whiskeys, and hand-crafted cocktails.
The bartender is knowledgeable and friendly, ready to recommend the perfect drink to complement your meal or mood. With specialty drinks on the menu, Charlie tried the Butter Beer while I enjoyed a delicious Peanut Butter Cup cocktail. The sweet drinks complemented the savory food, making for a heartwarming pairing for each of us. Service is prompt and attentive without being intrusive, and the servers are more than happy to share their insights on menu selections or the history of the pub.
As a family-owned and operated eatery, 4 Daughters had a humble beginning. With four daughters in the family, this restaurant became the “ours” of a “yours, mine, and ours” family. Opening their doors in December of 2006, they have served Medford for over 18 years.
We hope you get the chance to enjoy a meal at this beloved establishment. Whether on a crisp midweek evening like us or at a Third Friday Art Walk, on a special occasion or a random outing, enjoy a bite and a pint at 4 Daughters Irish Pub. You’ll be glad you did.
