“People walk in and they’re looking for something good for themselves and their kids. We’re glad when we can provide that,” said Brad Russell CEO/Executive Director of the Rogue Valley Family YMCA – better known as the “Y.”
The “Y” has something for everyone of any age – over 100 different programs during the year that fit into one or more of these three categories:
- For Youth Development
- For Healthy Living
- For Social Responsibility
Just some of the popular programs include swimming, fitness classes ranging from circuit training to ZUMBA, gym activities including basketball, racquetball, and aerobics. The “Y” also has a full day preschool program and an afterschool program with homework help, art education, physical education, and outside play. Membership dues range from $75/month for a family of two adults and up to four children down to $27 month for one youth or young adult. There is an additional cost for some classes.

Brad Russell has been Executive Director of the local “Y” for 19 years and has had a 35-year career with the YMCA, serving in New York, California, and Taiwan, where he met his wife Stella who is an oncology nurse at Asante. “It’s been a great career, and I am lucky and proud to work in the non-profit sector,” added Russell.
DMA applauds the “Y” for all they do for the people of our community and for their participation in Third Fridays. “They (Family Nights on Third Fridays at the “Y”) are always very popular. There is swimming, games and activities in the lobby . . . the “Y” is full of activity on Third Friday,” said Russell.
