Mother’s Day Weekend, May 9th & 10th!

On Mother’s Day weekend, Downtown Medford will host its 21st annual Art in Bloom Festival, presented by the City of Medford. Other sponsors include Horton Foundation, Travel Medford, Rogue Disposal, Cow Creek Casino, Creative Marketing & Design, Sign Dude, Sotheby’s Cascade International Realty, Uptown Events, and Stewards Porta Potties.
Art in Bloom is a spectacular springtime festival showcasing fine artists from the West Coast. A variety of over 60 artists and horticulturists has been selected to exhibit and sell their work, including a fine selection of photography, jewelry, garden decor, paintings, and much more. Activities include a children’s craft area, live music and entertainment, and food concessions.
Artisans are located on Main Street, Vogel Plaza, and the Lithia Commons Area. Live entertainment is presented at The Commons Stage.

Some community focused groups will have exhibits and activities:
- Life Art/ Life Track, a non- profit that helps guide and support at risk youth in Southern Oregon, will be creating graffiti art LIVE for you to watch. http://suicidepreventionjacksoncounty.com/lifeart
- Walking Tall is a non-profit group mentoring young men to have real life experiences building personal respect, integrity, and character through job readiness skills in woodworking, carpentry, automotive, welding, fabricating, small engine theory, and much more.
- Crater Rock Museum will be part of the event this year and will be on site with an educational exhibit.
- Wildlife Safari will be bringing several animals and doing educational presentations throughout the day. We will have an update on times and presentations soon.
- Youth 715 Ministries, a non-profit creating a safe place for teens to gather and create lasting Relationships, will have a couple of crafts including planting a FREE flower for Mom on her special day courtesy of Four Seasons Nursery.
- The Children’s Museum of Southern Oregon located in the heart of Downtown Medford is a world class center for families to learn, play and have fun together.
- This year we are adding a Youth Entrepreneur section with several young people showcasing and selling their products.
There is something for everyone at Art in Bloom!
Several other projects will also be available for the kiddos:
- Jamie Bryn will be creating a chalk art display. You will need to check in often to see the progress and watch the picture come to life. Space will be available for a chalk creation area.
- Face painting will be available for kids.
Art in Bloom provides opportunities for local youth artistic groups to perform and recruit new participants. Groups performing on the Pear Blossom Stage include: Miss Diana’s School of Ballet, Turning Point Dance, Ballet Folklorico, and Champion Karate. Sound will be generously provided by Spotlight’s on You DJs.
Art education is one of the chief goals of Art in Bloom. In the present economy, school budgets have been forced to cut these programs. Over the years the non-profit organization has funded art projects and student awards at North, South, Phoenix, and Grants Pass High Schools, Medford Independent School, and Central Medford High. This year, Art In Bloom is helping support creative endeavors for Walking Tall youth programs (http://walkingtallso.org)
