“Downtown has so much personality with the independent restaurants and cool little shops. You can walk anywhere,” said Eric Werner, owner of Artistic Piano Gallery, about why he has enjoyed being downtown for the past four years.

Artistic Piano has been in business in Medford for 21 years, previously being located on Biddle Rd. before moving to downtown. When asked how he got into the piano business, Eric said he was a symphony musician, playing the string bass, and learned how to work on pianos. His son and daughter are now part of Artistic Piano.

You would be absolutely amazed at the variety of pianos they have for sale – traditional grand and upright pianos, digital pianos, player pianos, and even hybrid pianos and other keyboard instruments. “There’s so much technology in the world of pianos,” said Eric.

Artistic Piano also services and repairs all types of pianos. They restore old pianos, especially vintage Steinways and tune and service pianos for Britt, the Craterian, and the Rogue Valley Symphony.

They don’t stop with pianos. Main Street Music, the other side of the business, sells and rents all types of musical instruments – string, brass woodwind, and percussion, supporting local school music programs. They also give lessons, having teachers proficient in giving lessons on all types of instruments.

Artistic Piano is even into guitars and is fast becoming a regional full line music store for all of Southern Oregon.

In addition to enjoying the personality and walkability of Downtown Medford, Eric says that rents are reasonable in downtown, the homeless situation has vastly improved, and DMA is “doing a lot of stuff” to make downtown more vibrant. “With the Holly open, hopefully we will have a nice renaissance,” added Eric.
