“I’m so excited to announce that I signed the lease to my very own salon in the heart of Downtown Medford,” wrote Alex Haas on Instagram on June 1, the day she became owner of Black Sparrow Salon downstairs in the Main Street Market building.
Alex said she incorporated “sparrow” into the name for her salon because sparrows represent hope and new beginnings and “my new beginning is owning a salon.”
Alex has been doing hair since 2010, first in the Bay Area and the past three years in Downtown Medford. She was with Salon Muse, the former salon in Main Street Market for the past year. “I love fun, funky cuts and specialize in blonding and creative color – actually I do a little bit of everything,” said Alex.
“I feel like there is a good sense of community in Downtown Medford, especially in this building. All the business owners are so welcoming. Since I’ve moved here, I’ve seen downtown grow and would like to see it grow even more with a larger variety of different businesses,” commented Alex about her Downtown Medford location.
