By EJ McManus – DMA Board President
Downtown isn’t just about the buildings, bike lanes, businesses, or even the people – it’s about what connects them. Like February’s snow melting, growth is happening. The real power is in shaping that change with purpose. That’s what DMA exists to do: provide leadership, advocacy, and engagement to strengthen downtown. And to keep that work moving forward, we’ve made two key hires: Kim Samitore, Administrative Assistant, and Annie Jenkins, Executive Director. For several months, DMA worked with BBSI and a hiring committee to find the right people to support DMA’s mission and create real impact.
Kim Samitore: The One Keeping DMA on Track

Kim joined DMA in December 2024 as Administrative Assistant and brings a strong background in organization and coordination. She’s already making DMA more efficient, allowing more focus on what actually matter – advocating for downtown and the people who make it thrive.
Kim shared, “I’m excited to join DMA and can’t wait to be part of the effort to bring new businesses and visitors to our amazing downtown. I’m passionate about helping our community grow and thrive!”
Annie Jenkins: A Strategy, Not Just Ideas
Annie was voted into the role of Executive Director in February 2025, bringing over 20 years of experience in economic and community development. She’s not new to Medford, Southern Oregon, or DMA, meaning she understands the bigger picture- a strong downtown isn’t just about events; it’s about economic vitality.

Annie has led rebranding efforts, built strategic partnerships, and secured funding to support downtown growth and helped begin the creation of an entrepreneur ecosystem.
Annie shared, “I am excited to build upon the efforts that have already made a positive impact and look forward to implementing new initiatives that will enhance business, culture, and community engagement in Medford. Together, we will ensure that our downtown is a welcoming and dynamic place for all.”
What This Means for Downtown
Bringing on staff doesn’t change DMA’s mission – it strengthens it. Since 2019, DMA has worked with partners such as the City of Medford to leverage an additional $589K into downtown. That didn’t happen by accident. It happened through advocacy, partnerships, and a clear strategy for why Downtown Medford deserves investment – like the Holly Theatre opening this month, a milestone that reinforces the value of long-term commitment to revitalization.
Similar downtown organizations across the country have used these same approaches – leveraging city partnerships, grants, and local engagement – to create long-term, sustainable growth. Medford is no different.
So reach out, send a message, or just introduce yourself. Let’s make action count, not words. And as 2025 rolls on, we’ll keep showing up, pushing forward, and making sure Downtown Medford is a place people talk about – for all the right reasons.
