Oh’s Osaka – New Owners

“Same delicious menu, now with great service,” said Jim Winans. Winans, a long-time community member, and business partner Mike Chacon recently bought Oh’s and held their Grand Re-opening on January 10.

Oh’s is famous for its teppanyaki cuisine served at the grills by entertaining chefs, or at a table. They also serve sushi and have a full bar. The restaurant has been refurbished with new paint and new flooring.

We think there’s potential to have a great restaurant here; we want to create a family-affordable, fun restaurant,” said Winans. According to Chacon, “The response has been encouraging, and will only grow as people experience the new and improved dining.”

Oh’s has been a staple in the area since 1995, and Mr. Oh will be serving as a sushi and teppanyaki chef.

Reservations, which are recommended for teppanyaki grill seats, are available online through Google Reservations. Delivery is available through Door Dash.

“We take pride in meeting that need while also helping
customers create meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces.”

For Matthew Root, the former manager of Holliday Jewelry, taking over business operations and rebranding as Root Jewelers has been a long-time dream in the making. After years of careful planning and dedication, the transition became a reality in January. Under Matthew’s leadership, Holliday Jewelry was consistently recognized for excellence, even being voted the best jewelry store in Southern Oregon. Now, as the owner of Root Jewelers, Matthew is building on that legacy with a fresh vision while maintaining the same commitment to quality and customer care.

We’ve been able to carry on the legacy of exceptional customer service and a stunning selection of fine jewelry,” said Matthew. Earlier this year, Ray Holliday retired, and the managers of his Medford and Klamath Falls stores became the proud new owners of those locations.

In Medford, the transition was seamless. “It was important to me that when customers walk through our doors, they see the same familiar faces and experience the same welcoming atmosphere,” said Matthew, speaking after the January 21 reopening under the new name: Root Jewelers.

Root Jewelers specializes in engagement and wedding rings, offering a wide selection of custom designs alongside expert jewelry repair services. “There’s a strong demand for high-quality repair work here in Southern Oregon,” Matthew explained. “We take pride in meeting that need while also helping customers create meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces.”

As a Southern Oregon native with over eight years of experience in the jewelry industry, Matthew finds his work deeply fulfilling. “It’s an incredibly rewarding field. You’re part of so many joyful milestones, celebrating with your customers every step of the way,” he shared.

Root Jewelers is conveniently located at 2 N Central Avenue in Medford. Their hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To learn more visit them at www.rootsjewelers.com or call 541-499-6877.
