According to DJ Graham, MPD Deputy Chief of Operations, more personnel will soon be on the streets helping to keep downtown safe.
SROs (School Resource Officers) are expected to start working the downtown area by June 12. The plan is to have one SRO in a vehicle committed to the downtown area and the others on bikes during summer months.
The downtown portion of the Livability Team is currently one officer. MPD is looking to expand that as the summer progresses. Tentatively the expansion is expected to happen sometime in August. The expanded team will be two officers and a CSO committed to the downtown.
