The Main Street Program also focuses on enhancing the district’s physical appearance by creating an attractive, coordinated, and quality image of the downtown and should be involved in all aspects of design that impact the overall impression of the district.

Our Spring & Summer hanging flower baskets have done just that. Paid by individual businesses and local individual supporters, our community sends a message each year to all who visit downtown Medford that this community cares.

Hanging beautiful flower baskets to adorn the streets of downtown is a simple yet incredibly effective way to bring life and beauty back to our streets after the winter months.

Following the winter holiday lights, the hanging flower baskets program is one of our favorite beautification efforts. It keeps the continuity of adorning our street and it signals the start of Spring. With more participating businesses and individuals, it has become a point of pride for our downtown community. Together we are adding color and vibrancy and making a more welcoming downtown.

Each year, the baskets are seeded and nurtured by our partner Four Seasons Nursery and once they mature, they are hung throughout the streets of downtown, kicking off our Spring season. The program includes Main Street from the Bear Creek Bridge to Fir Street and Central Avenue from 4th Street to 10th Street and its environs. The goal is to once again secure 120 baskets and continue to grow in numbers each year.

In order to get the baskets on time, our partners at Four Seasons Nursery will need our order in by March 21st! We encourage you to please act now!

Four Seasons Nursery is a full-service nursery and will provide everything we need: brackets for hanging the baskets, the baskets, of course, fertilization, and daily watering for 6 months. The baskets will be hung in May and removed at the end of October depending on the weather.

The price per basket is $435

This program is brought to you by the Downtown Medford Association, as we continue to work toward a more vibrant downtown. Cities with Hanging Basket programs report a greater enhanced image and improved downtowns over time. Beautification efforts renew pride and care for their city and increase residents’ fondness, increasing positive expression of their downtowns.

Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of the Downtown Medford Association. The Downtown Medford Association will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of the Downtown Medford Association.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

The Downtown Medford Association will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.

The Downtown Medford Association will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the Downtown Medford Association.

Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for Downtown Medford Association.

The Downtown Medford Association will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by Downtown Medford Association.

The Downtown Medford Association will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, the Downtown Medford Association will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

The Downtown Medford Association will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders’ fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to the Downtown Medford Association.
