They’ve been “a shopping asylum for bead nuts” for 30 years. Congratulations to Dancing Beads on their 30th Anniversary!
A big celebration was held on March 15, with refreshments, special prices, and drawings.
Carol Garfield opened Dancing Beads in 1995 in Main Street Market in the space where Pomodori Private Dining is now. The “Bear Ladies” retired and the space became available just when Carol needed a change from her medical administration job and she decided to turn a life-long hobby into a new career.
In 2008 Dancing Beads outgrew the Main Street Market space and moved to Vancouver and Main. Then in January 2014, growing pains struck again and Carol moved her store back to Downtown Medford at 121 East 6th Street where it is today. The building was built in 1924 for Jackson County Title Company and was redone inside and out in 1959. The building has a basement that Carol uses for storage and an upstairs classroom.
Dancing Beads is the only store dedicated to the joy of beading in Medford. Their upscale bead boutique will impress you as you explore the sparkling world of beads in their well-organized shop. From the tiniest seed beads to stunning artisan focal pieces, you’ll find what you’re seeking at Dancing Beads.
Dancing Beads is dedicated to bringing their clientele together. You can become part of their growing community of fellow bead lovers. You can enjoy demonstrations, classes, events, and gatherings throughout the year. Dancing Beads has many long-time customers. Some of them are now employees. “People are pursuing something that they love,” said Carol.
How do you make money selling beads? “Volume,” said Carol.
Carol went to high school in Medford and has many fond memories of our downtown. “I love our downtown. I love seeing new businesses come in like RetroWormhole and Rogue City Comics,” said Carol.
